In this dissertation, I explore how the legacies of (post) socialist transformations, European Union gender equality policies, and the dominance of so-called Western feminist theorizing have shaped and challenged the production of knowledge about gender in the Czech Republic in the mid 2000s. I do this from the vantage point(s) of the academic practitioners of gender studies with whom I conducted fieldwork between 2004 and 2006.
